Domino’s Pizza: GST to benefit customers and
company operations
KUALA LUMPUR: Domino’s Pizza is confident the
implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on
April 1 would benefit customers and the company’s
overall operations.
Domino’s Pizza Malaysia and
Singapore General Manager Shamsul Amree Ab Rahman said
the six per cent GST would not be passed on to the
customers since the company could claim it back from the
Royal Malaysian Customs Department (Customs).
“We decide to pass back the minimum savings of more than
RM2 million per year, which we can make from the input
tax claim from Customs, to our customers,” he said.
Speaking to reporters after the launch of a new product,
Domino’s Pizza Golden Chicken, and the ‘PaySameOrLess’
campaign here today, Shamsul Amree said the company
collects 10 per cent sales tax for the government
currently. |

He said the company would collect six per cent for the
government after April 1, but could claim input tax
credit.
The input tax includes all the raw materials such as
ingredients purchased for the products and overheads
incurred by a restaurant owner, he said.
Meanwhile, he said Domino’s Pizza expected to record
double-digit growth in sales this year through the low
prices offered during the campaign.
“This campaign is a way of reassuring our customers that
they will be paying the same or less despite the GST
implementation as well as higher living cost,” he said
adding that the company would also maintain its free
delivery service.
Domino’s Pizza Senior Manager Marketing Linda Hassan
said customers were welcome to view the price checker,
which provides price comparison before and after the
campaign.
“The new prices on the price checker will show the net
amount inclusive of tax which are either the same or
lower than what customers paid before,” she said. --
